Caribbean Boats Reimagined: Embracing a New Era of Australian Luxury Yachts

Caribbean’s revival under the ownership of leading Australian yacht builder Maritimo has created major excitement across the boating community. Known globally for their luxury, long-range motor yachts. Maritimo has taken the helm of one of Australia’s most iconic boating names, bringing fresh innovation while respecting decades of heritage.

Caribbean has long been recognised as an Australian boating favourite. A brand synonymous with tough, capable vessels built for fishing, offshore cruising, and family adventures. Now, with Maritimo guiding the redevelopment of the range, the next generation of Caribbean models is taking shape, starting with the highly anticipated Caribbean 40.

Maritimo’s team has approached the project with a deep respect for Caribbean’s history. As many industry leaders have shared, generations of Australian boat owners have fished, cruised, and created lifelong memories aboard Caribbean boats. Updating such an iconic brand required careful balance, passion, and a modern design mindset.

To begin the redevelopment, Maritimo carried out a complete digital scan of existing Caribbean models. This allowed their in-house engineers and designers to analyse each vessel’s structure in detail. The renowned Caribbean hull – known for its stability, efficiency, and offshore capability – remains at the heart of the new designs. What’s changing is everything above the hull: a refreshed flybridge, updated deck layouts, modern amenities, and improved functionality aligned with today’s boating expectations.

Maritimo also engaged long-time Caribbean owners to contribute feedback. These owners overwhelmingly praised the hull performance but agreed the deck structure and interior required modernisation. The result is a redesigned upper structure that maintains the classic Caribbean identity while offering a more refined finish, better flow, and improved practicality.

Performance remains a top priority. With Maritimo’s offshore racing pedigree and advanced production capabilities, the new Caribbean 40 is being engineered for efficient planing, strong cruise speeds, and exceptional handling. Buyers will have two configurations to choose from – a serious game-fishing setup or a family-friendly bluewater cruiser – ensuring the model appeals to a wide range of Australian boaters.

Another key focus is transportability. Maritimo is designing the new Caribbean models for easier road transport across Australia, with features such as detachable or folding flybridges to reduce height and simplify logistics.

Although the Caribbean 40 is drawing the most attention, it’s only the beginning. A new 27-foot model and a larger 49–50-foot design are already in planning, each carrying the unmistakable Caribbean styling. Maritimo’s long-term goal is to showcase multiple Caribbean models at major boat shows such as the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

The acquisition represents a significant moment for Australian boating. Maritimo is investing heavily in renewing the Caribbean brand—updating the product line, enhancing digital presence, and engaging with the loyal Caribbean owner community. The focus is on preserving what makes Caribbean special while bringing the brand into a new era of craftsmanship, performance, and Australian-built quality.

In every sense, this revival is more than a business decision. It’s a commitment to honouring a legendary name in Australian boating and introducing it to a new generation of offshore adventurers.
